MUNCIE GIRLS & SKATING POLLY TONIGHT!

Strangling Vinyl Promotions presents an awesome co-headliner with Muncie Girls and Skating Polly tonight!

Born in punk shows and dive bars to three driven teenagers in 2012, Muncie Girls embodies the classic punk rock story in a modern context. Fuelled by discontent and anxiety, the Exeter trio eloquently addresses modern living as a self-aware young adult. The result is an ambitious and poignant rebellion against social norms that touches on everything from politics to interpersonal relationships. Ultimately, what sets Muncie Girls apart is bassist and lead vocalist Lande Hekt´s unique perspective and its impact on her understated lyricism. Hekt´s dry, unembellished writing style is, in many ways, reminiscent of classic American literature a trait exceptionally unusual for a punk rock band from Exeter.

In support of their debut album “From Captain to Belsize” and off the back of receiving some great reviews, don’t miss one of the bands of 2016!

Skating Polly
Not heard Skating Polly yet? You really, really should. The sister duo from Oklahoma scored 4Ks for their brilliant album The Big Fit back in April thanks to their killer combination of fuzz and pop melody.

FLESH BRING THEIR SNOT POP TONIGHT!

We have rising snot pop stars FLESH tonight!

“They aren’t holding back are they? (Dead Lonely) is a swaggering piece of snotty pop’” STEVE LAMACQ

“FLESH are pretty aggy & pretty brilliant” HUW STEPHENS

“Sounding like classic Manchester music” RADIO X

“Make your own mind up with these Manchester grungers – we’re on board.” DIY

“A band whose music simply oozes urchin grittiness” MANCHESTER EVENING

Fresh from a major headline tour and some big support slots with the likes of DMAs and Darlia; Snotpop’s finest quartet FLESH finished their mammoth 2015 by supporting fellow social commentators The Enemy.

From major airplay from Radio X, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and Introducing, FLESH packed out shows across the country and received a lot of love from press from the likes of DIY, Line of Best Fit, GigSlutz, Manchester Evening News and more for the release of their first label EP (W8 4 ME / DEAD LONELY).

Hazza, Robbie, Cozza and Jon are currently in the process of writing and recording more of their snotty, smutty new wave Britpop and Madchester beats and their live shows are something not to miss!

THE HOSTS JOIN US TONIGHT!

Delighted to welcome The Hosts to The Soundhouse TONIGHT as part of their UK tour in support of their brand new album ‘Moon’!

‘Baby Move On’ is the first single to be launched off ‘Moon’, and sets the velveteen stage perfectly with its raucous wall-of-sound lushness and gigantically ace key changes which garnered playlist action from BBC 6Music, Single Of The Week on Absolute and stacks of plays from John Kennedy at Radio X and Janice Long over at Radio 2. Next up comes the second single. ‘Make My Heart Turn Blue’, which is an exuberantly odd take on classic Rock’n’Roll melodramatics, slightly like David Lynch rewriting the ‘Grease’ screenplay.

The Hosts have previously spooked the masses playing with the likes of Richard Hawley, The Walkmen, Paul Weller, Suede, Cold War Kids and Cherry Ghost.

“The Hosts’ output is redolent of Roy Orbison crooning mournfully yet manfully over mountain-high rhapsodies worthy of Spector.” – The Guardian

“Demand more magic from your music. If you want nothing less than brilliance, give The Hosts a chance and they may just be the band for you.” – www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk
