After last year’s sell out show we are delighted to welcome back Beans on Toast to The Soundhouse on Wednesday 30th November!

Drunk folk singer, barefoot troubadour and cult legend Beans on Toast will be releasing a new album titled “A Spanner In The Works” which will be released as ever on 1st December with Xtra Mile Recordings.

Although not wanting to go into to much detail at this early stage, Beans has said that as the name suggests this album he’ll be doing things a little differently, but that is all he’s letting on for now.

The Beans on Toast live show is an unique and unpredictable experience. A singer, storyteller and guitar player his self-deprecating quality is not something you often see, but it breaks down the barrier between musician and audience, creating a sense of equality.

Supporting on the tour will be piano bashing 21st Century Blues duo from Hebden Bridge – Tensheds and the incredible Kansas country singer Sky Smeed.

Tickets go on sale Friday 1st July at 10am.

Strangling Vinyl Promotions presents the return of Senser on Friday 9th September!

Senser incorporate their unique fusion of rock, metal, hip hop and alternative electronica, staying true to the sound they have been producing since 1989.

Senser became known for their political lyrics and a huge live sound which gained them headline slots at major UK and European festivals. Senser achieved worldwide success with debut album ‘Stacked Up’ in 1994, which peaked at number 4 in the UK album charts. They subsequently split up having toured half the planet.

After a long hiatus, in 2009 Senser wrote and recorded their fourth studio album ‘How To Do Battle’ working with producers Neil McLellan (The Prodigy), Jason Wilcox (You Me At Six, Reuben, Fightstar) and New York hip hop producer Scott Harding (Wu Tang Clan, New Kingdom). The album achieved major success with the rock press and fans and put the band back on the festival and touring circuit.

Planet Mosh summed it up perfectly: “With Senser back from the 90′s, I was worried that they might have brought the 90′s sound with them, they didn’t. The delivery was superbly tight and the room erupted into a mosh pit. This wasn’t 90′s, this was Senser showing other bands how the transition over decades can be done perfectly. Fully retaining their powerful roots yet managing to make every track sound fresh and new. Quite an achievement.”

2011 saw the band release the ‘Biting Rhymes’ EP – a collection of classic hip hop covers recorded in true Senser style. This release saw the band complete a successful and highly praised UK tour scoring rave reviews in the alternative rock and metal scene. Senser were also joined by dynamic guest vocalist Imma, adding her own superb twist on Kerstin’s euphoric sound.

2014 saw the band re-release their seminal debut album Stacked Up, the remastered album will feature all the original tracks with new artwork plus a bonus album of remixes, demo’s and new tracks from Senser’s unreleased 1995 second album.

The band are now back to most of their original line-up and this is not a show to be missed!

Strangling Vinyl Promotions presents Welsh Indie pop legends The Darling Buds on Saturday 17th December celebrating their 30th anniversary!

Influenced by the catchy simple sound of the early Beatles, the band created melodic, hook-driven, short-duration singles. They were considered part of the short lived “Blonde” movement , but also referenced the C86 scene of a few years earlier.
The Darling Buds formed in Caerleon near Newport, South Wales, in 1986, by the then 19-year-old Andrea Lewis. Their debut single, “If I Said”, was released on February 1987 and was well received. The group re-released the single on an established label, Native Records, receiving radio play on John Peel’s BBC Radio 1 show. Signing with Sony in 1988, several singles preceded their critically acclaimed 1989 debut LP, Pop Said. The album ultimately reached the Top 30 in the UK Albums Chart, and the band appeared on the cover of Melody Maker twice.

The band will be playing ‘Pop Said’ in full, along with other favourites.

Promises to be a Christmas cracker!

Strangling Vinyl Promotions presents an awesome co-headliner with Muncie Girls and Skating Polly tonight!

Born in punk shows and dive bars to three driven teenagers in 2012, Muncie Girls embodies the classic punk rock story in a modern context. Fuelled by discontent and anxiety, the Exeter trio eloquently addresses modern living as a self-aware young adult. The result is an ambitious and poignant rebellion against social norms that touches on everything from politics to interpersonal relationships. Ultimately, what sets Muncie Girls apart is bassist and lead vocalist Lande Hekt´s unique perspective and its impact on her understated lyricism. Hekt´s dry, unembellished writing style is, in many ways, reminiscent of classic American literature a trait exceptionally unusual for a punk rock band from Exeter.

In support of their debut album “From Captain to Belsize” and off the back of receiving some great reviews, don’t miss one of the bands of 2016!

Skating Polly
Not heard Skating Polly yet? You really, really should. The sister duo from Oklahoma scored 4Ks for their brilliant album The Big Fit back in April thanks to their killer combination of fuzz and pop melody.
