NEW SHOW – EDGAR “SUMMERTYME” JONES OF THE STAIRS IN MAY

Edgar William Jones, also known as Edgar Summertyme, is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Jones was originally the bass player and singer-songwriter for The Stairs and has since formed and fronted the Isrites, The Big Kids, Edgar Jones & the Joneses and Free Peace. He has also played as a session musician for several artists including Ian McCulloch, Paul Weller, Saint Etienne and Ocean Colour Scene.

Since the break-up of the Stairs, Jones has worked with Ian McCulloch on Mysterio (1992), Paul Weller (live and appears on Live at the Royal Albert Hall DVD, 2000), Johnny Marr in an early version of the Healers (where he was replaced by Alonza Bevan previously of Kula Shaker), Saint Etienne, Cherry Ghost on their Thirst For Romance (2007) and Lee Mavers following the departure of John Power from the La’s.

Jones has recently reformed The Stairs and we look forward to this special solo date at The Soundhouse on Friday 20th May.

NEW SHOW- MUNCIE GIRLS IN JUNE!

Strangling Vinyl Promotions presents rising Exeter punk rockers Muncie Girls on Friday 17th June!

Born in punk shows and dive bars to three driven teenagers in 2012, Muncie Girls embodies the classic punk rock story in a modern context. Fueled by discontent and anxiety, the Exeter trio eloquently addresses modern living as a self-aware young adult. The result is an ambitious and poignant rebellion against social norms that touches on everything from politics to interpersonal relationships. Ultimately, what sets Muncie Girls apart is bassist and lead vocalist Lande Hekt´s unique perspective and its impact on her understated lyricism. Hekt´s dry, unembellished writing style is, in many ways, reminiscent of classic American literature a trait exceptionally unusual for a punk rock band from Exeter.

In support of their debut album “From Captain to Belsize” and off the back of receiving some great reviews, don’t miss one of the bands of 2016!
