THE SMITHS LTD – THE SMITHS TRIBUTE BAND TONIGHT!

TONIGHT The Soundhouse Leicester & Wake Up Promotions present the brilliant The Smiths Ltd- a tribute to The Smiths

The Smiths Ltd were formed in Manchester, the hometown of The Smiths.
After an extensive search to find the perfect Morrissey, the band played their first gig in Manchester to an audience of avid Smiths fans. The response was spectacular and the band now plays at venues and festivals all over the UK.

If you never saw The Smiths then this is your chance to experience the thrill of those great songs played live. If you were lucky enough to see them first time around then prepare to relive that excitement again.
Committed to getting the same energy that Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce had onstage together, the band are also obsessed about getting that live sound just right.

With an authenticity and provenance that’s hard to beat The Smiths Ltd are the ultimate tribute.

The Smiths meant everything to a generation… To us they still do.

“Brilliant Smiths tribute band, they are amazing!” – Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets)

NEW SHOW- THE UNDERCOVER HIPPY IN APRIL!

We have The Undercover Hippy at the venue on Friday 15th April!

Billy Rowan, aka The Undercover Hippy, is definitely not your average singer songwriter. His music brings together acoustic guitar, soulful vocals, infectious reggae rhythms, and the lyrical delivery of a skilled MC. After 7 years spent DJ’ing and MC’ing on the Drum & Bass circuit, Billy swapped the decks for a guitar and started out as a solo act in 2007. He now plays with a full band, mixing guitars, keys, drums, bass, percussion and backing vocals to create a high energy, interactive and highly entertaining live show. Combining intelligent, provocative lyrics with dangerously catchy hooks and a feel good groove, this is music for the thinking man to shake his arse to. Think Jason Mraz meets The Cat Empire…on a protest march…at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The band are now hard at work on the new album, which is set for release in summer 2016. The first single from the album, “Boyfriend”, was released in March along with remixes from The Future Dub Project, DJ Hiphopapotamus and Raithism. It has received very positive reviews, getting radio play by David Rodigan on BBC 1Xtra, plus numerous regional stations.

NEW SHOW – THE HOSTS JOIN US IN MAY!

Delighted to welcome The Hosts to The Soundhouse on Friday 27th May as part of their UK tour!

THE HOSTS are from Sheffield, Yorkshireville. They consist of Thom Hogg (vocals, guitar), Jim Fraser (keyboards), Jamie Shipley (guitar). David Glover (bass) and new drummer Tom Reay-Bennett. Back in February 2014 they released their debut album called ‘Softly, Softly’ and now, precisely two years later, they have announced the release of the follow-up, entitled ‘Moon’ released on Fierce Panda.

‘Baby Move On’ is the first single to be launched off ‘Moon’, and sets the velveteen stage perfectly with its raucous wall-of-sound lushness and gigantically ace key changes which garnered playlist action from BBC 6Music, Single Of The Week on Absolute and stacks of plays from John Kennedy at Radio X and Janice Long over at Radio 2. Next up comes the second single. ‘Make My Heart Turn Blue’ (released on May 13th), which is an exuberantly odd take on classic rock’n’roll melodramatics, slightly like David Lynch rewriting the ‘Grease’ screenplay.

The Hosts have previously spooked the masses playing with the likes of Richard Hawley, The Walkmen, Paul Weller, Suede, Cold War Kids and Cherry Ghost.

“The Hosts’ output is redolent of Roy Orbison crooning mournfully yet manfully over mountain-high rhapsodies worthy of Spector.” – The Guardian

“Demand more magic from your music. If you want nothing less than brilliance, give The Hosts a chance and they may just be the band for you.” – www.godisinthetvzine.co.uk
